New Orleans is a city rich in talent. Such is the case of 5th Ward Weebie. Weebie’s been putting in work for a while in the N.O., and now is shining bright. I got a chance to sit down with this rising star.

DG : What’s up Weebie ?

Weebie : What’s up, what’s happening ? What’s shakin’ with u mane ?

DG : I’m chillin’. You’ve been puttin’ it down for a while, with hit after hit. Tell us some of the projects people know u from.

Weebie : I’ve been doin my thang since ‘98. Shit like, “Take It To The Hole,” and “Ghetto Platinum,” is some of my work that’s out now. Yall know the “Shake It Like A Dog,” “Ohh Wee,” “Rock It,” “They Really Want U,” and etc. I’m just doin’ Weebie, mane.

DG : With all the success of your music in New Orleans and surrounding areas, how do u respond to being called the new bounce king ?

Weebie : I don’t get to hype off that, u know ? I’m just being me. I’m maturing at the highest level right now. I’m versatile with my skills. I’m like a roller coaster - up and down the board. I got what u want. It’s cool. I do my thang when I can.

DG : You’ve been on a road to the top. Going from label to label. How has it been, getting adjusted to each set ?

Weebie : I’m like an allstar player, ya know ? I’m like a major league player. Ya know what I’m sayin’ ? If the next team wants me cause I’m the MVP over here, then I’ma roll with them if they paper right. I don’t get adjusted. I just roll with the punches, however they come.

DG : You’re with The New No Limit Records, now. How’s it been, and what roll does Weebie play?

Weebie : I’m workin’ with New No Limit. We been layin’ it down for a minute. We’re coming with it. So yall will be hearing more from that New No Limit & 5th Ward Weebie issue.

DG : Word on the street is..... you’re starting a new label. Can u speak on that ?

Weebie : Yeah, it’s called Fatt Boy Entertainment. And we gonna blaze! I got P-Town Moe, MT, Sess - 45, Steel, and a r&b group called, Christal, on the label. We’re going to be the first local independent label to come with rap and hip-hop in the same circle. We like the Lakers. We can’t be touched.

DG : After the success of “Ohh Wee” and “Rock It,” what do u have in store for us ?

Weebie : On this album, I’ma take it there. I’m letting everything out the bag.
You’re going to party like never before. You’re going to hear bounce, hip - hop,
the real, and that gutta gutta shit for peeps. Ya feel me ? I got the whole 9 on this one here. The cd is like, u can’t skip a song.

DG : When can we expect an album ?

Weebie : Yeah, the new album, “Da Unexpected,” is out now. I got 18 hot ones on there. My dog B.G., Ms. Tee, Kango (from P-N-C), and Sess - doin’ it big with me.

DG : Any final words for the people ?

Weebie : Yall keep buyin’ my albums and showin’ me love. I love my fans. Yall be cool cousin.
