Blaq Steel

By
Dub G.

Music is defined by
regions. Each
has it's unique
sound. When you
mix regional
sounds  together
you get a new
sound. When u
mix the East and
South, u get Blaq
Steel. I had a  sit
down with the new
fresh  face with the
fresh new sound.

DG - What's up Blaq Steel? Blaq Steel - What
da business mane ?
DG - Now, we want to know,
who is Blaq Steel?
Blaq Steel - I'm reality to the
max. Ya dig ? I represent the hood and everything in
it. I'm the raw element that you don't want to know or
hear about. The element ya scared of. I been doing
this for a minute. Rep'n Big Sipp Records. Ya know ?
DG -  Where are u from? Blaq Steel - I'm from the
Gulf  Coast of Mississippi. Representing Big Body B -
Town (Biloxi). I was raised in the Biloxi projects. I hold
it down for the whole Gulf Coast, though. From Moss
Point to Waveland. It's going down. 228 off top!
DG - How do you see your state in the music
industry?
Blaq Steel - We off the chain round here.
I got a team I think can't be touched. Cedamac, Will,
Big Shug, and Big Mike are the truth. I  think we can
go a long way. As far as the state goes, it's too much
talent from top to bottom to sleep on. There are a
few cats making some major noise that u can't help
but  hear. If you don't let us in, we going to bust the
door down sooner or later. Respect game.
DG - Who
were some of your musical influences?
Blaq
Steel - I got so many of them, pimp. From Run-DMC
to Stevie Wonder to TuPac. It goes on for me. I like
old school  music. U can feel that old smoothness in
me. Really,  music as a whole, has done it to me.
Because u don't know where you’re going, until you
know where you've been. Ya feel me ?
DG - As a
new artist, what are you learning on the streets
about the game?
Blaq Steel - I'm holding my own,
fasho. You can't step in the water without a boat or a
shark might get you. Ya know what I'm saying ? All
the sampling in the world cant get u on top, if they
aint cleared. Folks love to sue today. U got to have y
our  label paperwork together. Without legit
paperwork, u can’t do business on a major scale. U
got to have  stage presence when u doing your
thang. It's so many things I'm picking up. I'm also
getting the game from a lot of different people. So I'm
going to be all right. Aint nothing like hands on
training. When  I go through something new, my
family does the same. So it's all good.
DG - What's
the 411 on your new album?
Blaq Steel - "The
World Is A Customer" is the hot issue out now! I got
19 fire tracks, covering every direction and aspect of
the game. The Data Wizard did all the production,
except for one, Su Soulja did. My boys J-Mac, Baby
Slim, Su Soulja rep'n with me. The first single, "Hey
Ms. Lady," is blowing up, slowly but showly. So peep
that ! This is my story to a beat. There aint none of
that stunt'n shit going on, here. I got shit for the
ladies, freaks, head bussas, thugs, old folks, and
young cats. Cop the album because I know u can
relate to something on it, if not all of it.
DG - How
would you describe your flavor ?
Because u have
more of an East coast feel to your music? Blaq Steel -
On the real. I  got the game from my brother and put
my spin on it. I wouldn't say I have an East coast
sound. Because I'm from the dirty. So, that's how
you’re going to get it. I just do me. I make music for
the people. If it comes off like an East or West sound,
then let it be. If u feel me, u feel me. Real recognize
real, worldwide.  Ya dig ?
DG - Any new material
coming soon?
Blaq Steel - We're concentrating on
"The World Is A  Customer" for now. But, we bout to
drop a compilation soon. I'm steady in the studio
grinding, dropping  new material everyday - coming
up with new concepts and working the streets. My
peeps within the family, working on their projects. So
it's going down. Ya know ?
DG - Anything u want to
say to your fans ?
Blaq Steel - To the fans and
soon to be fans...  I appreciate the love and support
yall giving me. Keep  your ears open for ya boy and
Big Sipp Records. Blaq Steel Is Here and I aint going
nowhere. Shout out to the whole state of Mississippi
