who is C'Rena?
C'Rena: Great question. C-Rena is a singer/songwriter
native of Florida. I write for singers and rappers as well. And
I am a promoter and a hell of a networker all wrapped into one.
How long have you been at this?
C'Rena: I've been in music all my life but I
guess I've been in the industry for about 7 yrs now.
How do you feel about the music scene in Tampa
?
C'Rena: Honestly....there's tons of talent here.
No lie. Tons. Just no togetherness. If we would just pool all
of our resources and help each other, Tampa could easily become
the next Atlanta.
What was your first feature ?
C'Rena: My first feature. Wow! That would have
to be a song called "Its Like
That" by MC Nas-D ("My Caddalac"). It was a lot
of fun to do. I was very green
to the game then, and that was one of my first times in a studio,
so I remember
being very bewildered about everything.
So, tell me how many features you have done ?
C'Rena: You tell me and we'll both know!! Honestly,
I have no idea. I can safely say that I have done so many that
I have lost count! For my next project, I am putting 15 of the
hottest tracks I have ever been featured on called,
"........featuring C-Rena: THE COLLECTION." It actually
drops April 16th....the
day after 'Uncle Sam Day'.
Tell me about the mixtape you dropped.
C'Rena: Aaahh.... CHANGING THE GAME.....THE MIXTAPE!!!
A huge success!! It is still selling as we speak. I get internet
orders like every day. As you know, TJ Chapman, of TJ's DJ's hosted
it. Big ups to him. And I had a great support circle doing it.
I'll bet you didn't know that this was my very first project.
It comes as a shock to a lot of people, but yes....my first. "........featuring
C-Rena: THE COLLECTION", will be my second.
Any other mixtape djs put you down ?
C'Rena: OH YEAH!! The dj's have given me tremendous
support. DJ's affiliated
with GTP have been my biggest supporters, followed closely by
dj's affilliated with Bumsquad Djz. Spacifically DJ Splack and
Big CeeJay (GTP), DJ Pimp, DJ
Sosa, DJ Blizz, DJ Kid Krunk (Bumsquad), DJ Quote, Cristal Bubblin
(Bumsquad, Core), DJ Ruckus, Just Marco, and DJ Phat Mike (Soul
Selectors).
Is it hard being an r&b artist and getting
on mixtapes ?
C'Rena: Not at all. I get asked quite frequently,
since I do all kinds of music. I try to think outside the box
so that my music can reflect that. I've been on remix, r&b,
hip-hop, and dance mixtapes. Not hard at all.
What make you different from other r&b chicks
?
C'Rena: I think I have a better understanding
than the average. I'm a pro-
moter by force, because I know in this business, outta sight,
outta mind. And if I
plan on succeeding at all, I gotta keep my name in everybody's
head....ask Mike
Jones. Let's talk about your album. What's the title ?
C'Rena: HA HA HA... OK... The album is called:
"C-RENA....THE ALBUM". Cause
everyone is always saying..."Hey C, when's the album coming
out? Hey C,
when u gonna drop that album? Hey C, whats up with the album?"
so I'm just
calling it "THE ALBUM".
Are you dropping it independently or do you have
a deal ?
C'Rena: Independently.....but I am actively searching
for a deal.
What's the release date on it ?
C'Rena: We don't have a set date yet, but it
will be the end of Spring.
Before we go, what set are you with ?
C'Rena: Well, I rep Bumsquad Djz, not a member
but GTP IS my FAM, and I
LOVE FLA TILL I DIE !!
