Not since Nelly, has St. Louis had an artist 2 makethe kind of first impression as Chingy. Chingy, who’s signed 2 Ludacris’ DTP Records, has come out the gate with a vengence. Being DTP’s first solo release, and having moved more than 200,000 units in it’s first week, “Jackpot,” the much awaited, and much anticipated debut by Chingy, has been far from disappointing for the artist and the label.

The album has produced 2 chart topping singles thus far. Both singles, “Right Thurr,” and “Holidae In” (featuring Ludacris and Snoop Dogg), have been radio hits, as well as, club hits.

Chingy’s down home Southern drawl, and his laid back rhyme spittin’ have helped contribute 2 his instant success. It doesn’t hurt that the ladies and young girls are diggin on him, he has some hot ass production, and Luda guiding him along, either.

We caught up with Chingy at the Capitol City Takeover in Canton, MS (after the Jackson State / Alcorn State football game in Jackson, MS).

What’s poppin’ Chingy ? What’s up wit cha ? Man I really enjoyed the show tonight.

CH: Thanks. I appreciate that.

Oh Yeah !

CH: Yeah, I got family here. I’ve been down here 2 family reunions.

O.k. Hey look, I know u just finished your show and you’re tryin’ 2 get outta here. We appreciate your takin’ the time 2 holla at us. Is there anything you’d like 2 say 2 your fans ?

CH: Yeah, I’d like 2 thank everyone for supporting me and DTP. We couldn’t have done this without cha.
