What’s going on, Mane ?

Nothing, just in and out of court. Everybody’s been comin’ with all these ludicrous charges. They’re just tryin’ to get me arrested because there’s a lot of jealousy behind my success.

Do u think that since the shooting incident, they’re out to get u for any and everything now ?

Anything they can get me on ! Anything they can do to bring me down, they gone try to do it. They’re lookin’ for anything.

For those people who may have been under a rock somewhere and have never heard of Gucci Mane.... Give em the scoop on who u are.

I’m originally from Birmingham, Alabama. I moved to Atlanta at the age of 8. I’ve been writing poetry since the first grade. I’ve been rapping since 13. The first song I came out with was called “Fa Sho”. I did a remake of the “White Tee” song, called “Black Tee”. Then I came out with “So Icy”. I just wanna let everyone know that I’m not a violent person. U know ? I’m just a person who defended myself. That’s how I got into all this stuff. Once I beat all this stuff and get exonerated, then I’m gone get back to my music. I just wanna let all my fans know that I love em.

I know u can’t really get into the case, but how’s it going for u ? Is everything going well ?

It’s going great, man. I’ll be outta here [jail] October 4th. It’s over something that happened in Atlanta, but I was arrested in Miami on a warrant.

Being that you’re from Birmingham, and now living in Atlanta, what’s some of the differences that u see..... As far as the music ?

It’s more fast-paced in Atlanta. They a lot slower in Birmingham [musically]. They’re like 1 or 2 years behind Atlanta.

Well, what do u think they need to do over there in Birmingham in order to catch up ?

Just get over-populated like Atlanta with people from all over the country. U know, bringing different ideas in fashion, music, architecture, and everything that they bring.

What’s the first thing u plan on doing when u get out ?

I’m going straight to the studio. I’m workin’ on nothing but new stuff.

How’s your cd doin’ right now ?

We at 100,000 cds sold. We done gone ghetto gold - independently. We got one of the biggest independent releases of the year.

Is that just thru Big Cat Records, or are they going thru someone else ?

Strictly thru Big Cat.

A lot of people never really get adjusted to being locked down. How are u coping with it ?

Hey, u just gotta play the cards that they deal u.

So, has anyone tried to test u, yet ? U know, since you’re this cat coming in with a hot radio and club hit ?

Naw, I ain’t never been no punk. I can handle that.

Who helped u put your cd together ?

I worked with Shawty Red, and Frank Nitti.

Anybody u wanna work with when u get out ?

Yeah, I wanna work with Mike Jones and Juelz Santana.

It’s been reported that u and Young Jeezy bumped heads over the song, “So Icy” - Tell us about that.

He was upset because he couldn’t retain the rights to my song. He wanted to put it on his album and I wouldn’t let him put it on there. His label, Def Jam, wanted to buy it, but I wouldn’t sell it to em.

Is there still some beefin’ going on ?

I ain’t got no problems with him, but he’s been on the radio sayin’ some derogatory things about me.

There’s been talk in the streets that his verse is what made the song a hit. How do u feel about that statement ?

I wrote that song and I bought that beat. My personal producer, who produces for me, he did that for me. All he [Young Jeezy] did was write 16 bars. I wrote that hook. I made that song. I came up with that idea.

Who sang the hook for u ?

A dude named Lil’ Will.

If u were to move back to Birmingham with the success that you’ve had so far - Could u make something pop off there ?

I’m thinking bout gettin’ me a house there when I get out. I know I could bring some attention to the city. I know I would ! It’s only an hour and a half commute from Atlanta. All my family’s there anyway. My mother and brother are in Atlanta, but everyone else is in Alabama.
