Fresh off one of the South’s hottest and most spinned singles, “We Ain’t Going No-
where,” comes a soon to be household name - KELLY.

Kelly is aiming for the top of the charts, and anyone who wants 2 battle. This beauty can loose the lady and become a beast when it comes 2 battle rap and attacking tracks in the studio. So be warned. Appearance isn’t the only thing you’ll get out of this new Southern phenomenon on her first solo album (which includes appearances by Rasheeda and Bonecrusher). So on that note, let’s recognize Kelly, The White Bombshell.

TNP: What started u 2 rapping ?

K : I was always into music. All Types. But when I was around ten or eleven, I heard Bone Thugs, and I fell in love with what I heard. So I started writing their raps down, trying 2 say them myself. Once I learned 2 rap like them, I started puttin’ my own words to it. I grew from there.

TNP: Were u influenced by any female rappers ?

K: Yeah ! Lady Of Rage, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, and Missy Elliott. Missy raised the bar for what a female rapper has 2 come with. By her being different and not following the standard, that made me wanna bring it more.

TNP: What about Southern female rappers ?

K: Yeah ! My girls Gangsta Boo, Rasheeda, Chyna White, and Trina. I somewhat respect all female artists, because each one of them has their own niche. I do feel like hip - hop needs a breath of fresh air, and I feel that I can be that.

TNP: U mentioned Rasheeda as one of your influences. How was it working with her ?

K: She’s real cool 2 work with. Actually, back in the day, me and my manager were riding in the car, and Rasheeda’s song came on. This was like before she really hit it. He was like, “I bet you’re gonna do a song with her.” I’m like, yeah, o.k. !! Now as it turns out, I’m signed 2 the same label. She’s real down 2 earth.

TNP: What’s the deal with your album, and when can we expect it ?

K: Right now, we’re in negotiations with a couple of labels. And as far as my album, we’re not trying 2 just put out some album fillers, but some good singles on this album. Right now, my album is almost done. I’m actually always in the studio. And when I do another song that’s hot, we change a couple of things. We’re also pushing the single as much as we can. Hopefully it will be out the first part of this year.

TNP: What’s the name of the album ?

K: Everybody wants 2 call it “The White Bombshell.” I don’t want 2 call it that, but that’s the name of the maxi - single with Rasheeda’s and my songs on it. I would love 2 call it “Exclusive.” Because I feel that’s what you’re gonna get. Something new and hot. And something you’ve never heard before.

TNP: Who produced on the album ?

K: JP, from Macon, Georgia, did some tracks. I worked with some other producers as well.

TNP: Being a battle rapper, and because of your appearance - when people see u and don’t think it’s u.... how do u take that ?

K: I had the opportunity 2 display my talents at Hot 107.9 in Atlanta (Coco Brotha’s Freestyle Fridays). I won some battles. Now everybody wants 2 hear me freestyle. They don’t care if I can write lyrics or rap. And when they see me, they’re like.... Nah that can’t be her. I think it’s good for me 2 be able 2 step up 2 those challenges and misconceptions, because u have battle rappers who can’t make songs, and u have good writers who can’t freestyle. So I’m blessed 2 do what I can.

TNP: Who is it in the industry that you’d love 2 battle ?

K: I’d love 2 battle 50 Cent, Eminem, or Jay Z. I wanna battle someone who can make me better.

TNP: There are a lot of young females tryin’ 2 get into the business. Do u have any advise for them ?

K: Well, this industry is like a 100 times harder for a female 2 make it, because it’s so male dominated. As a female, u have 2 have something that separates u from every other female. U can’t come out tryin’ 2 be like Eve, Lil’ Kim, or Missy. U have 2 get out and grind. Don’t be scared 2 rap if someone asks u 2 rap. If u love hip - hop, you’re gonna do it. That’s how I got on. The best promotion is self promotion. And also, find u a team that supports u.

TNP: We wish u much success. Yall go get this Album !!
