How’s it going Maria ?

I’m fine. How are u ?

I’m cool. Tell us something about yourself.

My name is Maria Kimberly Sings. I’m from Charlotte, North Carolina. I’m fifteen.

Aren’t u working on a cd right now ?

Yes. We’re trying to finish the project right now.

Are your people gonna push this project outside of North Carolina, or are they gonna focus on Carolina, only ?

Well, we’re looking to create a fan base here in North Carolina first.

You’re a sophmore in high school.... Right?

Right !

How hard is it for u to juggle school and your recording schedule ?

It’s not that hard. If u plan out everything and create a schedule. If I know that I’m gonna be in the studio til’ ten, then I’ll do my homework in school. Sometimes I get sleepy and fall asleep in class.

How many tracks are there on your new album ?

Right now, we don’t know. We’ve just been doing a bunch of songs.

Do u have a title for the album ?

Yeah, It’s gonna be self-titled.... Maria Sings.

How supportive have your parents been ? Are they behind u in this ?

Yes. My mom has always helped me. She’s my manager and she’s behind me 100%. My entire family’s behind me. They’re my biggest fans.

How about your friends at school ? Any hating going on ?

Yeah, u always find out who your real friends are when you’re trying to do something big. My main friends are so excited when I tell them. They’re like..... Oh my God, I can’t believe you’re really doing this. They’re just real happy for me. You know, there are some that didn’t wanna get close to u at first, now they wanna get close to u cause they think you’re gonna give them something in the end.

Who were some of your influences ? U know, before u decided that this was what u wanted to do ?

My mother. Because she use to sing herself. She devoted her time to raising me and my sisters. No one in my house would sing, but me. My mom use to tell the stories of how she use to always want to sing. That really influenced me. That made me wanna do it. It was my first year in junior high that I really found out that I could sing.

U sound a lot more mature than most 15 year olds. A lot of labels and managers have to coach their artist as how to speak and give a good interview. U seem to do it naturally.

Thank u !

What would be your dream collaboration ? I think Alicia Keys is so amazing with her talent and energy. I think she’s a real artist. She writes and plays her own instruments. She’s strong.... vocally. I really look up to her a lot. If we’re speaking of males.... I’d like to do a collaboration with Mario. Cause he’s very talented also.

Do u like uptempo songs or ballads ?

I do a lot. I’m in chorus in school, and I’m a soprano and I sing up most of the time. When I’m at home and doing talent shows, I’ll do a ballad.

Who’s behind the production on your project ?

Phase One Records is behind the record. Robert Wilson is the producer. I worked with a guy named D’Mario. He helped me with my pitch and my vocals. I also worked with a guy named Tim.

What part did u play in making this album, besides vocals ?

I either wrote or co-wrote all of the songs. I was exposed to writing at a young age. I really wanna take credit for being creative with my writing. I’m really looking to develop as a writer.

So, was this something [singing] that u were kinda pushed into ?

No, this is something that I sit in class and dream about. I’m not looking to pursue college after school, because this is something that I really wanna do. And I think that when u really dream about doing something all the time, then it’s really meant to be.

Well we wish u and your label much success with this debut project.

Thank you for giving me this time.
