What’s poppin’ Max ?

What’s happenin’ ?

What’s goin’ on ?

Just workin’, bruh. Finishing up this new album called Get Served. Probably bout to put it out around next month [May].

For those who may not know who Max Minelli is, give us the run-down on who u are and what you’ve done.

I’m from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I started out rapping with The Concentration Camp bout ‘95....I reckon. Me, C-Loc, Young Bleed. I was in a group called Lay Lo with a dude named J Von. We did some shit back then, on No Limit on Youngbleed’s album. We had a bunch of songs on there. Since then, I been doin’ my own thang. I got 4 solos albums. So depending on where u at, they might be hard to find. But u can find ‘em on the internet. My first one is
called, Me And My Hustle. Second one called, Max Pain. Third one called, I’m All I Got. The fourth one called, Dat Boy.

U said that u started out with The Concentration Camp. Are they still together ?

Yeah. Me, C-Loc, and Happy Perez [the dude who use to produce us], we still together. We got one new member named Reno the Gutta. So we still doin’ our thang.

Do u have your own label now ?

Yeah, I been had my own label.

What’s your label called ?

Crushed Label.

U hooked up with the Mississippi - based label, Malaco. Malaco’s known as a heavyweight in
the genres of blues and gospel. How and why did u hook up with them ?

Just fuckin’ with some dudes. At the time, I was signed to Mystikal’s label, Big Truck. I met these dudes and they tried to do a little thang with me and run it through Malaco. That shit ain’t really do nothin’. Malaco...... I mean, I ain’t really gonna say nothin’ bad about ‘em. Them
dudes had a lot to do with it,too. I guess. That shit just wasn’t bout nothin’. Know what I’m sayin’ ?

So they really don’t know how to push rap music ?

I mean...... I don’t think so. That was just an experiment to me. To see how it was gone go.
Know what I mean ?

Who are some of the people you’ve got featured and doing production on your new album ?

I got production by my dog, Happy Perez. A platinum producer. I production by C-Loc, my Dog. I got some new up and coming producers from Baton Rouge on there. I got a dude named Howard M. He just did the new C Murder and B.G. song. I got some beats from him. And I got some beats from my partner, Russell Lee, from Houston.

Are u still living in Baton Rouge, or are u living in Texas now ?

I’m back and forth.

What’s the difference in the music scene out there in Texas, as compared to Louisiana ?

Like..... Baton Rouge, where I’m at, the music is more energetic. It’s faster and louder. In Texas, it’s slow. It’s screwed. They just like slower beats. The talk is different. Boys in Texas rap about shining. In Baton Rouge, it’s just straight gutta. It’s ghetto. I ain’t sayin’ it ain’t
gutta in Texas, but we tend to rap about that shit more than niggas in Texas. U know what I’m sayin ?

U said u use to be with Mystikal’s label, Big Truck. Do u still stay in touch with him, now that he’s locked up ?

I ain’t really talked to him in a while. I sent word to him to keep his head up, though.

Where’s Max Minelli’s music hot right now ?

Fa sho, Louisiana. I guess, some of Mississippi and Alabama. Maybe a little part of Florida. A little part of Texas. I look on the internet, and sometimes there’ll be people in Denver, Colorado talkin’ bout Max. Minnesota, u know what I’m sayin ?

U had a feature on Frankie J.’s [Columbia Records] album. How did that come about ?

Through my boy Happy Perez. He pro -duced a lot of stuff for Frankie J. and Baby Bash.

So has that collaboration opened up some doors for u ?

Yeah, Fa sho ! No doubt. They got a new girl on Universal, named Natalie. I did a feature on her album. I think it might come out May 17th. She like a pop girl. She like on some Britney Spears. But she way sicker than that. U know what I’m sayin’ ? So yeah, that opened up a
lot of doors for me.

Texas is real hot right now. A lot people are gettin’ deals right now. U been talkin’ to anybody ?
Yeah I talk to ‘em all the time. To me, I gotta build my stock up to that right level.

What date can we expect the new cd to drop ?

I say May. The middle of May. How many tracks are on it ?

Really, I ain’t all the way thru with it, yet. I’ll say around 16.

Did u record in Texas and Louisiana ?

Yeah! I had to record in Louisiana. Just for that vibe.

Are u doing a chopped and screwed version since you’re out there in Texas ?

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah ! This will be the first album that I’ve had chopped and screwed. I’ll probably go back and have all my old albums done, too.

Who ya gettin’ to chop it for ya ?

I’m gone try to get at Paul Wall to do it. Me and Paul Wall real cool. I talk to him every now and then. I’m gone try and get him to do it so it’ll be all the way official. U know what I’m sayin ?

Anything you’d like to say before we go ?

Anybody supportin’ me...... I appreciate the love. If u can’t find my cds, just look on the
internet. Like cduniverse.com. God Bless, and I appreciate it big dog.
