Everybody knows the south has influ - enced the hip-hop game in a major way. One market that’s picking up steam and showing no signs of slowing down, is Mississippi. The state has a new sensation ready to explode on the scene. I introduce to you Phenomm.
NP - So what's the business Phenomm ? Phenomm - Aint much man. Down here working and that's it! NP - You're new to the game, so tell us a little bit about yourself. Phenomm - I'm a live wire. I'm very versatile and can deal with any situation quickly. However u want it, you can get it. I am the Phenomm, and that's what u get. Something phenomenal ! NP - Where are you from ? Phenomm - I'm from Uptown New Orleans. Straight out the 3rd ward. I moved to Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, a minute ago. And all my ties to the rap game come from here. I'm representing 13! If yall don't know what that is, its Mississippi. Do the math! NP - How is the music scene down on the Mississippi gulf coast ? Phenomm - We got cats down here doing it big. A lot of quality material is here. This like a boiling pot. You can find whatever u want here. As far as the business goes, its stagnant. U can't get everybody on one accord at one time. When something big comes from this source, the other ain’t ready for it, and vice versa. There are a lot of groups and records labels here, but only a few stand out and make a name for themselves. I know it'll get greater later. We just got to network more. NP - Do you think it's harder to get out of Mississippi as an artist? Phenomm - It's not where you from, to me. It has a lot to do with your timing where you from. Timing is really important. If you look at the states around us, they've had a big force or a mediocre force to bring light to they spot. It goes to your hustle and grind. Who's going to go that extra mile to get out? I'm the type of cat, who, if I work with you, I'm going to give 110% and make it happen. If I got to be in Starkville to do a track with some one and take a six hour trip for one song, I'm going to do it. That's the attitude a lot of cats have to have to make it. That's how I think. NP - What would u call your style of music? Phenomm - Well, I do so many different styles of music. It’s hard to say. I like the riding music the most. That's my comfort zone. Don't get it twisted because I got one of the biggest mouths you'll hear on the mic. My music is targeted to the southern region. I got the East and West, too. But this that southern flavor. NP - Tell us about your new album? Phenomm - We got "Mr. Down South" coming soon. It's all original music. But it's like an underground album. You can only get this off the streets or our website. Be looking for that late Summer, early Fall. I got 19 tracks to keep your speakers jumping. I got 17, Dub-G, DJ Sgt. Rock, Freakie, and the rest of my peeps on it. I'm still in the studio recording on the real deal "Viet-Nomm.” That'll be here around the first quarter. So look for that. It's a lot of people I'd like to work with on this one. It's going to be a hot item no doubt. NP - Any outside projects we can expect to look for u on? Phenomm - Everything! If I can be a part of it, I will be. There are no barriers, as far as I go. NP - Where do you see yourself in the industry? Phenomm - Being successful is what I see. I'm a hustler. So I'm going to get some of this money. I love he game, but at the same time, I want to eat and feed my family. NP - Anything else you want to tell your fans? Phenomm - Thanks for the support. To the fans, dj's, and anyone who feeling me, follow me - because I'm not going to steer u wrong. U can expect all of me when u see or hear me on a track. Holla at the family, at www.ThaBigHouse.com - ya know ? Big House Music got things popping fasho. You can hear new music and get more info on us than CNN has.
