Mississippi has always been a state rich in talent. From sports, to art, to acting, and music. But long overlooked and highly underestimated, is an area in Northeast Mississippi known as "The Golden Triangle." The GTA, as it's called, gets it's name from 3 cities located about 25 miles apart in a triangular formation - Columbus, Starkville, and West Point, Mississippi.

The GTA, over the years, has had it's share of area musicians who've done their part in promoting the area. But none have come as close as the rap community. Per capita, The Golden Triangle probably has more rap artists than any other area in the state. The GTA has been referred to, by some well - known artists, as having the best underground rap in the state.

Leading the way, are such labels as Lo Kee, KrysOnIce, Steel Magnolia, Swamp Mafia, Homegrown 4000 A.D., Currency Flow, Dirdy World, Durdy Boy, and Soul Mob Records. With producers like : Chaos, Ty Cutta, The Funky 1, Taz, d' Mayfield, DJ Stikuhbush, Alley Cat, Brand, Carletio (Tic), 2 Smooth, Dirty Harry, Raw T., K.G., Lloyd Mitchell, and a wide variety of artist with various styles. Such as : Mr. Trill, Gain Green, Lil Cet, Dough Boi, Dub, JC, Jaistylez, Red, Doughbelly Stray, Big Bull, Deen Town Villians, Vimp, Po Pimp, Mike Ellis, Sipp, Bigg Sinn, Lil' Duke, Lil E., Magnolia Mac, Sean Goodlife, Infared, Lil' 82, Eternal, Redd Rumm, Tha Country Boyz, Tha Country Girlz, The Crawford Boys, Jack Frost, Lil' Chris, Lil' Tony, NPV, Shan Lan, Big Tone, Trell G., Repo Man, Lady Boss, I.V.C., Killa Hun, Triple Beem, Lil' Oz, Shunn Bennett, D.C., Kenny Thomas, Playa D., 662 Boyz, Danja, Pacino, & Game Bred. And they only make up about 85% of the artist in the area.

I know for a fact that many of these artists are moving 2,000 to 5,000 units on their own, with no traditional distribution system. Most aren't even being scanned at retail stores. The GTA would be attracting a helluva lot more attention right now, if they were.

Mississippi, let's get together and support not just the GTA, but all of Mississippi's independent artists. And u artists, let's start networking outside of our home area. This state is full of talent from North, Central, & Southern Mississippi. Let's not waste our opportunities. David Banner is red hot right now. Now's our time to strike.

1 Love. 1 State of mind.
