Since the deaths of Tu Pac and The Notorious B.I.G., music critics and some fans
alike, have been saying that hip - hop music has been on a decline. Some have
even wondered aloud.......Who’s killin’ hip - hop ?

The bigger question is.... Who cares ? Do u really care ? I don’t ! These people are so consumed with who’s killin’ hip - hop that they’re overlooking a lot of great talent already in the business. If anyone is killin’ hip - hop, it’s u closed minded folk.

Tu Pac was Tu Pac, and Biggie was Biggie. They’re no longer here. So let it go. Stop comparing every artist in the business today, to them. When they were alive, everybody wasn’t calling em the best ever. It’s only after they died, that now, no other MC can touch em, and hip - hop music just ain’t the same.

We use to hear how gangsta rap was killin’ hip - hop. Now it’s Southern Music. Not everyone says it, but it’s out there. It seems that anyone who challenges the old establishment and it’s style of rap music, is not considered worthy 2 be in the business. The talk is always the same. The Westcoast has no real lyricist. The South has no real lyricist. Damn a lyricist !! Can u make money ? Can u survive ? Can u feed your family ? Can u build a business ? Why should we give a damn about how artist A uses big words and raps about his-tory. Don’t get me wrong, history is important. Conscious rap is important. Reality rap is important. Buck, crunk, club & booty rap is important. They’re all important because somebody’s buying the music. Therefore, they must enjoy that style of music. When someone wants to unwind, conscious rap ain’t what they wanna hear. When a man and woman wanna dance, conscious rap ain’t what they wanna hear. My point is.... every person has his or her own taste. If everyone looked alike and dressed alike, the world would be boring.

Artist like : Scarface, Snoop, Andre 3000, Ludacris, T.I., Bun B., Z Ro, Ice Cube, Trick Daddy, Juvenile, Big Boi, C LO Green, 8 Ball & MJG, Dirty, Lil Flip, Goodie Mob, Playa Fly, Nelly,
E 40, Common, Bone Thugs, Kamikaze, Murphey Lee, & Twista are just some of the artists from the North, South, West, & Midwest who don’t get as much credit as they should for their lyrical ability.

I watched hip - hop’s 22 best MCs on one of the music channels. And out of the “So called” 22 best of all time, only 4 were from somewhere other than the Eastcoast. Eminem, Scarface, Snoop, and Dr. Dre. Come On now ! Is that all ? No Andre 3000. No Luda. No Bun B. And no Ice Cube.

So 2 all of u worried about the fate of hip - hop...... stop concentrating on the old. Let some new folks in the game. Check out some independent underground artists. They have a lot 2 offer. Stop hatin’ on every artist makin’ money doin what he or she likes. As long as clubs are around - there’s gonna always be booty rap. As long as there’s hard times, crime, hustling, and violence - there’s gonna always be reality or gangsta rap. You’re not gonna stop expression. So either get on, or get out the way. Free Your Mind, And Yo Ass Will Follow.

What up Chicago, Cleveland Ohio, Philadelphia, St. Petersburg, Tampa, Australia, & Japan ? Thank yall for gettin’ on board and rollin’ with The New Power. We ain’t just about doin’ it down South. North, South, East, West - worldwide...... We put it down for the underground. PERIOD !!
