You guys have the new cd out! Can you tell me a little bit about it ?
Diplomats: The cd is came out November 23rd, and it's
crazy.
Everybody's got a solo joint on it, and we're just bringing back the
same vibe we had on the first cd!
Now, with your first cd, that was a double. Will this
also be a
double ?
Diplomats: No, this isn't a double. Everybody thinks
it is because
there's about 20 tracks, but it's a single album, and from 1-20, I
promise you it's crazy.
The new album is titled Diplomatic Immunity II. Why did you all decide to use the same title again?
Diplomats: The first one was so crazy and so memorable
that we
just wanted to pick up where we left off, so it's simple and it describes
the same vibe as the first one.
Who all did you guys get a chance to work with ?
Diplomats: Mainly on this cd it's just the immediate Dipset family, but we
did bring in a few outsiders. As far as producers, it's really nobody
major.
Now tell me about the first single for the cd and what
direction
you were coming from with it, or basically the concept.
Diplomats: The first single is Santana's Town. Juelz
Santana' single off the aslbum, it's crazy. He's been experimenting with a
bunch of
styles.
Now, I know that Jim Jones' LP was released through
Koch
Entertainment, but is the group still Rocafella ?
Diplomats: We're still at Rocafella.
So what is the relationship like at Rocafella ? Although
you guys
have clearly been signed to them all along, it still seems like you were
still off on your own.
Diplomats: Well, Juelz got his new album coming out
on Rocafella. We've got so much music to put out, and with Koch, it gives
us an opportunity to
put out basically whatever we want, and we get more money doing it.
Is there any pressure at all for this new cd to do as well as the last cd did, being that you're one of the only groups on Rocafella making a lot of noise?
Diplomats: Naw, there really ain't no pressure. I
mean, the first cd did
well, and in between that, we been dropping mixtapes galore. Every -
body been waiting for a long while.
What's going to set this new cd apart from everything else that you've done?
Diplomats: Right now, we're introducing new artists,
40 Cal, Jha Jha,
Hell Rell, and J.R. Writer. This is what the streets been waiting for,
and we have faith in the consumers.
