Dirty Red, what’s been up ?

DR: Well right now, I’m working on my debut album, and I’m working with a few other artist on my label. I’m lookin’ for a major deal. A venture deal with someone else. I’m doin’ a lot of underground stuff right now. Like mixtapes. I’m hittin’ the streets with that. I’ve opened up for major artists comin’ thru the local area.

Where are u from ?

DR: A little bit of everywhere. I’m from a military family. We’ve stayed all over. Right now, I’m livin’ here in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

Who are some of the artist you’ve opened for ?

DR: Trina, Pastor Troy, Ying Yang Twins, Choppa, Mr. Bigg, Wayne Wonder, Rome, Swisha House, and Juvenile.

What’s your new album called ?

DR: Dirty Dollars.

Who does your production ?

DR: C Dub (with CMR Productions) from North Carolina, Red - from Greenville, North Carolina, & Big Styles.

What’s your label called ?

DR: That’s Dirty Dollars Entertainment.

How long have u been in the business ?

DR: I’ve been doin’ my own thing for the past year, but I’ve been workin’ with others since ‘99.

Who influenced u growin’ up ?

DR: TLC, Tu Pac, Boss, Biggie, & MC Lyte.

What made u want 2 do this ?

DR: Well, I’ve been writing since I was young, but never took it serious until I entered a talent show in ‘99.

As a female artist, do u feel it’s necessary 2 use sex 2 sell yourself ?

DR: I feel that it’s just a form of expression. There’s nothing wrong with it. Everybody has sex. I have sex. It’s a part of life. I’m gonna talk about what I go thru.

Do u think that female artists get labeled as hoes when they talk about sex and dress sexy ?

DR: Guys like that kinda stuff. One day I may dress skimpy, and the next I may have on something baggy. Of course, there’s gonna be somebody sayin’ something negative. Like I said, it’s just a form of expression.

How did u get the name Dirty Red ?

DR: Because I have a dirty mouth. When I was in college up in Pensacola, a guy gave me that name, and it just stuck with me.

If u had one person in the business that u could do a collaboration with, who would it be ?

DR: That’s a hard question 2 answer. I guess I’d have to say Missy.

Is it harder for a man or woman 2 get into this business ?

DR: I feel that it’s harder for a man because there are so many men tryin’ 2 get in. If you’re a tight female with something about you, I think it’s a little easier. Girls are noticed just be- cause we’re girls. U Know ?

Who u bumpin’ down there in Florida ?

DR: Trick Daddy and Trina of course. I also bump Swoss too. He’s an up and Coming artist.

What areas have u hit with your music ?

DR: North & South Florida, the Carolinas, & Alabama. I’m gonna be hittin’ the Eastcoast and Midwest with my mixtape around the 4th of July.
