Many rappers today, try to find a niche in their rhyme. A lot
of MCs have gritty voices, crunk attitudes, or strong lyrics. If u roll all that up into one, u get Fiend. The former No Limit Soldier, now Ruff Ryder, is a one man wrecking crew. I had a chance to chop game with “Mr. Whomp Whomp” to see what’s up.

DG: What’s up Fiend ?

Fiend : Everything is super, super gravy - good good ya heard me !

DG: Many People remember u from your No Limit affiliation. Why did u leave ?

Fiend : With me moving.... it’s all gravy, grits, and liver my nigga. I started my own label to get some more paper. I wanted to shake a few things up on my own. Make a bigger name for myself and show my skills on another level of the game.

DG: How was the change from No Limit to Ruff Ryders ?

Fiend : Well, u go from hanging with a bunch of Southern niggaz with gold in they mouth ( who don’t mind barking like a dog ), to eastcoast cats ( who might be a little modest, but a little more flamboyant ), talking that “Yo, kid, son, God, and b” talk. It was a wild transition. But real niggaz are real niggaz....worldwide. Ya dig ? It’s cool, though. I commend both labels for being there for me.

DG : Tell us a little about your company.

Fiend : Yeah, It’s Fiend Entertain- ment. Shortly abbreviated “FE,” for design. We been up and running for about 3 and a half years - four years. We have a small staff, but we get things done. My manager has a street team, so that makes things run a little bit more on a first name basis. So, we know who’s out workin’ the projects. We released “Can I Burn” in 2000, and that did some nice numbers. “Can I Burn 2” is our second store release. As far as artists, we still looking. We run into a few, here and there. But none are really that serious. We’re going from hood to hood, state to state, coast to coast, looking for people with a real good work ethic about themselves and this music.

DG : When can we expect the new album from u ?

Fiend : “Can I Burn 2 “ is in stores now. So be on the lookout for that. The streets will be happyall over again. I’m acting a dog on this one. Ya Heard me ? I got a song with Lil Jon. Jazze Pha produced a track. It’s called “From Round Here.” It’s serious. 8 Ball is on the first single with me. It’s called “Stay In Your Lane.” I got production from Moby Dick of The Medicine Men (formerly, Beats By The Pound), David Banner, and a few more. This project is gonna have the streets bubbling. I have a Ruff Ryders album dropping later this year, called “The Addiction.” I’m workin’. Ya know ?

DG: Tell us about the new group with Three 6 Mafia.

Fiend : Watch out, watch out boy. There go them Head Bussaz. I hooked up with them when I did a feature with them, a while back. Everything was good, and we ended up hookin’ up at a show they did done here in New Orleans. My manager was there, and was like....”They going to be down here in a minute. We have time to bring them to the studio.” Next, I get a call from Juicy J. to get to the studio. We hooked up and was like... let’s do an album together. I was like... well damn! We hooked about a week later and formed the group, Da Head Bussaz. We dropped the album, “That’s How It Happen To’ m.” It was on Billboard, and sold over 160,000 units, independently, in a 6 month time span.

Dub G: What’s next on your platter ?

Fiend : I’ve been producing for the new 8 Ball & MJG album. I did some things for Bad Boy. I’m in the process of doing work with Bubba Sparxxx, and got some shit on the new Jada Kiss album.
I’m trying to finalize a few tracks for the new DMX project. I have a few cats outta Jackson, Mississippi I’ma be workin’ with. I just did a whole gang of shit with KLC (of The Medicine Men) on his new album, “The Drum Major.” I’m just bringing this shit to the world.

DG : Anything u wanna tell the fans before we bounce ?

Fiend : You need beats, hooks, or verses ? hit us up if u got your change right. The #1 contender is back. It’s been a long time. I shouldn’t have left u. But I’ma make u beyond proud of ya boy again. Tell the haters that real niggaz are back, and cowards hide.
