Meckelle, how are u ?

I’m fine. How are u ?

It’s all good. Tell us a little about yourself.

I’m originally from Chicago. I’m living in Atlanta now. I moved down here so that I could record with the producer H. Dub. I’m currently working on my first project and I’m really excited about it. Twenty is also a producer on my project. They’re both award winning producers. Twenty worked with the Gospel Gangstas and he was nominated for a Grammy. We’re also working on a promotional tour. That should start real soon.

Do u plan on staying in Atlanta ?

I’m kind of all over the place right now. I might stay, I don’t know. I like Atlanta. It’s real cool.

How long have u been involved with music ?

I started singing when I was young. At 13, I was writing, and by 15, I was doing background for local artists.

What label are u with ? I’m with Hard Work Entertainment.

Who were some of your influences growing up ?

Ooh, I had a lot of em. Deniece Williams, Vanessa Williams, Whitney, Mariah, Chaka Khan, Brian McKnight, Billie Holiday, & Sarah Vaughn.

I noticed u didn’t mention R. Kelly. You’re from Chi Town and u ain’t into R. Kelly ?

Yeah, I like R. Kelly. Did u do any production on your new
album ?

Naw, just writing. I wrote or either co - wrote every song on the album.

How many tracks should we expect 2 see on the cd ?

About 15.

Describe your sound for us.

I would say that it is sultry, mellow r&b.

Is your label only marketing u in the Atlanta area ?

No, we’re tryin’ 2 go nationwide. Right now, u can buy my cd at meckelle.com. The promotional tour that I’m doing with my label mates, Kamal and Chazzie, is another way we’re tryin 2 put my name out there.

Have u been getting any reponse from the streets and clubs in Atlanta ? No, not yet. Crunk music is real popular out there in Atlanta.

Do u have club tracks on your cd ?

We’re doin’ some remixes that I’m really excited about, but they’re not finished yet.

Is this something that you’ve always wanted 2 do, or is it something that hit u as u got older ?

I’ve always wanted 2 sing. My grandparents used 2 dress me up in silly clothes and make me sing in front of the church. This is the only thing that I can focus on.

How does your family feel about your leaving home and moving 2 Atlanta ?

Ooh, that was mixed. They were kinda like - yeah, but no !

Do u have any family or friends in Atlanta ?

No, I only know a couple of people. I still have 2 do the nightly call in 2 everybody and my mama.

I Hear ya. Mama wants 2 know what’s goin’ on with her baby. Well we wanna thank u for takin’ the time 2 holla at us. We look forward 2 hearing your new album.

Sure. Thank u.
