Coming out of West Point, Mississippi, Baby Eight Entertainment has cooked up a gumbo flavored group called Needmo Parkway Village (NPV), which consists of fourteen artists. The N.P.V. members consist of : M - Breezy, Lil Wo, Lady Chino, Federal, Luv - Breezy, Tone Whitehaven, Dick Verbal, J - Everyday, Phats - D, Reggie - D, Ty - 2, Double IZI Dean, Fish, and last but not least, Richie Boy. N.P.V.’s freshman album, entitled “40 Days 40 Nights,” was released in December 2002. Cd sales were boosted by the singles “Saturday Night,” and “Undercover Freak.” The rest of the cd is nothing short of a Southern masterpiece.

N.P.V. has just completed their sophmore album called, “Tear Da Moufout Kingz.” It has been highly anticipated. This album consists of the same type gumbo flavor with a few extra seasonings added in. After this album is released, Baby Eight Entertainment plans 2 drop some solo projects. The first four will be Lady Chino (the groups only female artist), Lil Wo, Ritchie Boy, and Federal. With all solo projects, it’ll still be a family affair.

How did u all come up with the name Needmo Parkway Village ? Well, that was simple. Needmo is the name of the hood that we’re all from. We all grew up together. There use 2 be a park in our neighborhood until the city tore it down. Now the kids have 2 play in the street. This is where Parkway comes from. African tribes live together in a village, most of the time everyone in a village is related. We are like one big family. So that’s where the village comes from.

If u had 2 compare N.P.V. 2 any other group, who would it be ? We don’t really like 2 make comparisons. We feel as if we are unique, but if we had 2 make a comparison, we would say that we’re like a Southern version of Wu Tang Clan. With so many different artists, we give listeners a variety of styles and lyrical flows.

Who are some of your musical influences ? We listen 2 all types of music. We would have 2 say Triple Six, Project Pat, UGK, Jay Z, JadaKiss, Styles, Ludacris, Scarface, and Outkast would be the most influential. But if u sound tight, we’ll bump ya.

How did yall get started rappin’ ? All of us played around with rapping and writing ever since high school, but we didn’t get serious about it until the early part of 2002. That’s when we put down our first track for the “40 Days, 40 Nights”cd.

What do u hope 2 achieve from your sophmore cd “Tear Da Moufout Kingz” ? 2 expand our audience first and foremost. We’ve really only been doing our thing in North Mississippi. We are going 2 take our sound 2 the Southern part of the state. Like Jackson and Biloxi. We know people will dig our sound because we have banging tracks and real lyrics. If we haven’t done it, seen it, lived it, bought it, or got it, then we ain’t gonna speak about it.

There’s been talk of an unspoken rivalry between Baby 8 and another label. What’s up with that ? That’s exactly what it is. Just talk. We ain’t in a power struggle with no one. U can call it arrogance, or just plain cocky. Of course, a little competition never hurt, but we’re tryin’ 2 focus on the big picture. David Banner has opened the door for everyone around these parts. It’s like a mad dash 2 the finish line. Only the strong will survive. It’s guaranteed 2 be an interesting year.

On yalls first cd, I noticed it only featured Baby 8 artists. We basically were establishing our independence. Around here, you can flip a quarter in the air and hit a rapper on the head. When we dropped we surprised a lot of people with our flavor. We ended up raising the standard. In the near future, we plan on working with some hot artists in this area.

How would u classify your music ? There is no classification. But if we had 2 say, it would be classic Southern street funk. We have some serious heat for all rap genres. No Matter your hood, project, borough, or set, you’re sure 2 feel what the “8” is giving u.

Can we expect 2 hear more from Baby Eight Entertainment ? Of course !! A soild foundation has been laid and the building blocks are falling into place. The sky is the Limit. With hot solo joints and other compilations, u can put your money on the “8”.
