From NorthMississippi’s Scandalous Records, comes the labels 5th release, and second
solo joint - “Set To Strike,” by Venomous Smoke.

We sat down and chopped it up with Smoke to see what he and Scandalous have in store for us.

What up Smoke ?

What’s goin’ on man?

We haven’t heard much from u since S.S.P.’s last album and Kwan’s solo effort. What’s been happenin' with ya ?

Awh man, I got an album about to drop in Spring 2005. It’s called Set To Strike.

Who u got featured on there ?

David Banner, Gangsta Boo, Koopsta Knicca, my guy - Licky,The Go Gettas, and many more
man.

What can we expect from your album ?

I plan to accomplish what no artist has, in Mississippi. I got something for the old school and the new school. The old heads and young fools. U know ? I got something to
speed u up and slow u down. Something u can kick back to and get buck to. U gone get everything that’s required.

U grew up in North Mississippi....Right ?

Actually, I was born here (Ripley, Mississippi), then I moved up to Chicago. I moved back here in ‘94, and finished my teenage and high school years here.

What are some of the projects that you’ve done with Scandalous Records ?

I started opening up shows for S.S.P (Still Scandalous Posse) back in ‘99. From there, I went on to sign with Scandalous in 2000. I was featured on their Country and Hard Headed album. It also featured artist like : Gangsta Blac, Lil Juice, Kwan, and DJ Xmas. I was
featured on Kwan’s - The Circle Ends Where It Begins. It featured names like : David Banner, Skinny Pimp, and S.S.P.

Which artists have had an influence on u ?

Awh, man!! L.L., Twista, and Banner. R&B wise.... I’d have to say - Stevie Wonder. U know... Just the basics.

How has your style changed from when u first got into the game ?

Back then, it was more gangsta. Like Three 6. Now I’m more into the crunkness. U know, like Lil Jon, to the laid-backness of Terror Squad.

Who’s handling your Production on the new project ?

DJ Xmas, of course!!

I’ve noticed that there’s some new names with Scandalous, and some old ones gone. What
made u stay ?

Man, Xmas put me on. Xmas took me from recording on tape decks and Wal-Mart microphones, to putting me in the studio. He put me in the studio with some quality
things. U can’t ask for more. The cat promised me one thing when I came in..... That he was gone get me out there. That’s what he’s doin’. That’s what he did. He held his end, so I’m stickin’ to mine. I’m Scandalous for life.
